D3: From Work Stress to Holistic Wellness (Cantonese Session)

When you burn a candle at both ends, it may produce twice as much light, but it will burn out twice as fast. One of the tragedies of burnout is that it usually strikes our most capable and productive people. In our society, burnout is the high price people pay for high achievement and success. This workshop aims to introduce an integrated approach enabling you to relax your body, calm your mind, and revitalize your spirit to attain holistic wellness. In this session, speakers will discuss:

l       What is burnout?

l       Causes of burnout

l       Stress and psychosomatic illness

l       The importance of self-awareness

l       Ways you can protect yourself from burnout

l       The secret of managing stress / stress remedies at work

l       Tips for maintaining a work-life balance

Lam Man Ping
Counseling Psychologist, Honorary Professor of Counseling Psychology
The Chinese University of Hong Kong
Founder of T&T Holistic Growth Institute

Prof Lam Man Ping is an honorary professor of counseling psychology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and a counseling psychologist.

 

With her colleagues she has conducted workshops and seminars in different countries, with a special focus on training counselors, and on indigenous counseling in mainland China and the Asia region. She also served as overseas consultant for counseling centres in mainland China and in several Asian countries.

 

With the conviction in humanistic education and human potential development, in April 2005, Prof Lam has joined hands with professionals from various disciplines to establish T&T Holistic Growth Institute. Along with daily counseling work, Prof Lam is invited to teach courses, provide supervision, deliver speeches and conduct workshops.

 

Prof Lam is delighted to be able to promote holistic growth and wellness in Hong Kong. She received her doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of Illinois Urbana ¡V Champaign.

Calvin Luk
Registered Physiotherapist and Director
T&T Counseling and Physiotherapy Centre

 

Calvin Luk is a registered physiotherapist in Hong Kong, with over 20 years of clinical experience. He was the Senior Physiotherapist in charge of a Hospital Authority out-patient physiotherapy department before founding the Humanistic T&T Holistic Growth and Therapy Institute together with Prof Lam Man Ping in spring 2005.

 

Mr Luk has served on various hospitals committees, chaired and co-ordinated numerous training programs for members of the public as well as for hospital staff and physiotherapists, and was chairman of the Occupational Safety and Health Committee at Yan Chai Hospital. Based on his years of hands-on experience in myofascial release, extensive experience in taichi, chigong, acupuncture therapy and counseling, he provides the holistic care formulated by himself and Prof Lam at the Institute.

 

Beside physiotherapy and counseling work, he also provides holistic wellness workshops for teachers, school administrators and people from other sectors.
