About CPD Under the membership scheme effective 1 April 2010, the fulfilment of CPD requirements will be one of the criteria for HKIHRM membership renewal. HKIHRM members including Associate, Professional and Fellow Members have to meet the requirement of CPD hours in order to renew their membership every year. |

1. What is CPD?
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) refers to the acts and processes through which one acquires HR-related knowledge and skills beneficial to continuing practice. The Institute believes that HR professionals have to keep themselves up-to-date to maintain and develop the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in today's dynamic business environment. Therefore, we believe you will gain the rewards throughout the process of undertaking any CPD activities.
CPD helps you to: - Identify the areas which you may focus on your training and development - Check out which areas you may further focus on for enhancement - Attain your career goals through various stages of achievements - Enhance your adaptability to cope with challenges and changes by updating your knowledge, skills and capabilities - Build your confidence to seek for continuous improvement - Ultimately, you will not only keep yourself progressing in the HR profession, but also help contribute to your organisation by transforming your learning into valuable solutions and practices 2. Is the CPD requirement mandatory?
Associate, Professional and Fellow Members have to acquire the required CPD hours within a membership year (1 April - 31 March the following year) in order to renew their membership. ![]() 3. CPD Hours Requirements The requirements are as follows: For an event or a project or an assignment and unstructured tasks which cover self-directed studies, the CPD hours should be based on the actual time engaged in that activity/ learning. A maximum of 50% of the total CPD hours required can be acquired from engaging in these types of activities.
Associate Members can acquire a maximum of 2.5 CPD hours per annum from an event or a project or an assignment and unstructured tasks which cover self-directed studies. Professional Members and Fellow Members can acquire a maximum of 5 CPD hours per annum from an event or a project or an assignment and unstructured tasks which cover self-directed studies.
CPD requirement for Associate members and Professional Members who join the Institute during a membership year will be as follows:
