HKIHRM HR Excellence Awards 2012 Officially Kicked Off

 HKIHRM HR Excellence Awards
Most prestigious programme to recongise outstanding people management practices
 
 
[2 May 2012 - Hong Kong]    The HR Excellence Awards 2012 (“The Awards”), organised by the Hong Kong Institute of Human Resource Management (HKIHRM), was officially launched today. All organisations and HR professionals in Hong Kong, Macau, mainland China and the Asia-Pacific region are invited to take part in this prestigious award programme to demonstrate their strengths and competencies. This brand new award programme is designed to recognise organisations and individuals who achieve business success through outstanding people strategies and practices.
 
Speaking at the Awards kick-off ceremony, Mr Francis Mok, President of the HKIHRM and Chairperson of the Awards Organising Committee, said, “Demands for excellent HR practices are on the rise, especially in a dynamic city like Hong Kong which is transforming into a knowledge-based economy. The roles and responsibilities of HR professionals are changing, from general practitioners to business partners, strategy implementers, organisation development designers, expert practitioners and culture and change agent. They are vested with the extremely important responsibility of sourcing, recruiting, nurturing and retaining talents who are crucial to business sustainability and development. The Institute hopes that through this award programme, organisations and individuals will be encouraged to sharpen the focus of their own practices on business performance, identify outstanding people management practices and practitioners, as well as sharing with their counterparts best HR practices.”
 
The judging panel comprises distinguished government officials, academia, and business and HR leaders:
 
-          Mr Paul Tang, JP, Permanent Secretary for Labour and Welfare
-          Professor Anthony Cheung, GBS, JP, Member of Executive Council, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region
-          Mr Francis Mok, President, HKIHRM
-          Mr Eddie Ng, SBS, JP, Co-chairperson of China and International HRM Committee, HKIHRM
-          Ms Caroline Mak, Regional Director, North Asia, The Dairy Farm Group
-          Professor Randy Chiu, Director, Centre for HR Strategy & Development, Hong Kong Baptist University
-          Mr William Chan, HR Director, MTR Corporation Ltd
 
 
Attending the kick-off ceremony as one of the officiating guests, Mr Paul Tang, JP, Permanent Secretary for Labour and Welfare, pointed out, “If you want a successful business, you must have good HR management. As businesses depend on people, the role of HR becomes increasingly more important. Professional people management leads to contented staff and makes it easier for an enterprise to participate in the growing commitment to corporate social responsibility, in turn improving a company’s image. The value of the HKIHRM HR Excellence Awards is far reaching. Apart from the important recognition given to the efforts of HR professionals, and companies having good HR practices, it attracts more young people to join this profession. The HKIHRM plays an extremely important role in talent development by HR professionals in Hong Kong and strives to enhance professional standards. The award programme is a good example of increasing the perceived value and influence of the profession.”
