Oscar Tan, visiting lecturer of the institute for corporate legal training (ICLT), is a practising barrister, arbitrator, accredited mediator and educator. He was called to the Bar in 2015, and obtained his mediator accreditation from the Hong Kong Mediation Accreditation Association Limited (HKMAAL) in 2013 and the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) in 2006.
Oscar has a wide range of legal practice with particular focus on arbitration, mediation and criminal litigation. He has experience in both prosecution and defence of criminal cases and has previously served as a public prosecutor. His civil practice includes personal injuries, land, building management, contractual & financial disputes, mediation and dispute resolution. He has recently succeeded in helping an appellant to reverse plea in the Court of Final Appeal.
Oscar is a seasoned speaker and educator. He is currently the Course Leader of the Mediation and Negotiation Course and Chinese Legal Practice Course under the PCLL Programme of the City University of Hong Kong. He is also a part-time lecturer of the LLM Programme of the University of Hong Kong and taught mediation in PolyU. He has been invited to deliver seminars on legal and dispute resolution topics to both public and private sectors.
